About

The difficult part…

The brief version is that my name is Donna Waters and I am an Photo on 4-01-13 at 2.39 PMemerging writer from the Illawarra – struggling as is evident – to create her own website. I have a great partner – Phillip, a film maker and community arts worker – and we have three kids, a dog and two cats. Phillip hates the cats but loves the dog. I grew in in Western Sydney and we moved to the gorgeous Wollongong almost 13 years ago not long after the birth of our first child. I am a Clinical Psychologist and embarked on a creative writing degree six years ago, thinking I’d do a semester at a time until I’ve had enough. I’m  still there. Year two into a PhD. I love reading and living between the mountains and the sea, good food and great tea. I drink instant coffee and like colourful shoes and scarves. My daughter recently described me as someone ‘who is her own person, wears things that don’t match and doesn’t seem to care’. It’s a fair description. An introvert at heart, I do love connection with people, especially kindred women, and then need to withdraw to top up when I can.

I have no idea how this space will evolve but for the moment, I’m going to use it to share my musings, ideas and writings – largely to keep me writing!

Stay tuned!
